Crain Communications Rotating Arts Program

Explore a unique opportunity as an artist to showcase your work at the Crain Communications headquarters in Detroit. Located on the top floor of the Brewery Park Campus, owned by Crain, our office at 1155 Gratiot Ave. offers an exceptional venue for your art. As a global media company with offices worldwide, including Chicago and New York, Crain has 20+ industry-leading brands in its portfolio and 750+ employees.

Artists are invited to submit up to five pieces for consideration, with a special emphasis on larger works – a chance to make a profound statement on our expansive walls! Encouraging sizes like 24×36, 36×36, 48×48, and beyond, we also welcome smaller works.

This continuous opportunity welcomes artists of diverse sizes, mediums, and skill levels, offering a platform to exhibit your artwork for a three-month duration. This program is led by our Facilities & Office Services department in partnership with Amanda Koss, Detroit-based artist and program curator. Applications are reviewed for the upcoming rotation with available slots, and artists will be notified as their turn approaches.

Periodically, Crain Communications purchases artwork from the rotations which is placed throughout our offices nationwide. We have art from Detroit Artists in Grand Rapids, Chicago, Bowling Green and expanding! Employees also shop the work as well as visitors, media and other guests. Artists and their work are shared throughout the company, worldwide which can be viewed here.

Submission 1:

Organizing and curating exhibitions requires significant behind-the-scenes work, including reviewing submissions, planning logistics, marketing events, managing fees, and coordinating with artists and venues. These tasks demand time, effort, and resources, especially when curators operate independently or with limited funding. Submission fees help offset these operational costs, ensuring that curators can manage the process effectively and continue to provide valuable opportunities for artists. Please note that application fees are non-refundable, as the resources and time required to review and process submissions are committed regardless of the outcome. By submitting your application you agree that your submission fee is non-refundable.
