Artists Amanda Koss and Marta Cavajal embarked on a collaborative venture that invited artists from across the state of Michigan to express themselves in their unique artform through the creation of 12” x 12” self-portraits. These individual artworks were then thoughtfully assembled into a captivating panel installation that embarked on a journey through the vibrant Detroit Metro area.

The concept behind these self-portraits was to draw inspiration from the collective experience of enduring over 365 days within the COVID-19 pandemic, marked by countless virtual calls that became our new norm. This community-driven project beautifully symbolizes unity, showcasing the spirit of artists coming together from diverse corners of the Detroit-Metro region. The call for art welcomed participation from artists across all mediums, fostering an inclusive and richly diverse exhibition.

In total, this remarkable exhibition showcases the creative expressions of 77 talented artists hailing from various corners of the state of Michigan. Their self-portraits stand as a testament to the resilience and creativity that emerged during these unprecedented times.
